Weekend activities do not have to be routine. We take the Citroën C5 Aircross out for a day that involved learning new skills, dining in a stranger’s home and fishing for our lunch
Kick-start your weekend in this cosy market tucked in the quaint neighbourhood of Loewen Gardens. Here, you can find a variety of vendors selling artisanal food, unique clothes and beauty products. Previous vendors include bridal brand The Mariposa Collection and Sri Lankan enterprise The Eco-Statement. The market also has a play area for kids, so the young ones can entertain themselves and be merry while you purchase fresh goodies and chat with people equally passionate about produce.
If you end up buying food or coffee for the road here, don’t worry about making a mess in your car. The C5 Aircross’ Progressive Hydraulic Cushions® offer a superior suspension system that delivers a smooth ride, so you can drive over bumps on the road without worrying about spillage. And thanks to the sliding, reclining and foldable rear seats, the C5 Aircross’ boot space can be easily converted to 1,630 litres to fit all your purchases at the market!

Love a good seafood meal, especially in the middle of the sea with a breeze? Singapore’s first kelong restaurant, Smith Marine, gives you just that experience. But to get there, drive to Changi Point Ferry Terminal, where you have to take a 15-minute boat ride.
Located off Pulau Ubin and Changi, this halal-certified restaurant follows a farm-to-table dining concept. Visitors can catch their own fish at the “sure-catch” pond, and thereafter allow the cooks in the kitchen to work their magic. Apart from fish, Smith Marine also offers a wide spread of other seafood as well as a menu similar to a tze char restaurant’s. Vegetarian options are available, too.
Dining at Smith Marine is by reservation only, which must be made at least three days in advance. The restaurant will help you book a two-way boat ride for $100, to be paid directly to the boatman. To book, contact 9792 7609 by WhatsApp or SMS only.

Why not spend the weekend afternoon learning something new? Check out the variety of workshops organised by local retailer Naiise. Learn how to mix and blend your own essential oils, master the basic techniques of embroidery, create your own book binder, and much more. The workshops are suitable for all levels and are conducted by professionals in their respective fields.
They are also held across different dates at several locations across Singapore, so check Naiise's website for more information.
Weekends are all about relaxing, and flotation therapy may well be just what you need to get into the zen zone. Flotation therapy may have been popularised only in the last few years, but the practice dates all the way back to the 1950s. Invented by neuro-scientist Dr John Lilly, it involves lying afloat in a tank filled with salt water. In the process, a parasympathetic response in the brain is generated, triggering deep relaxation and sending the body into a deep sleep. Common benefits of flotation therapy include stress relief, mental clarity and overall well-being.
At Palm Avenue Float Club, you will lie in the pod in minimal light and float on water filled with Epsom salt. Music will play for the first 10 minutes to ease you in, but how you feel in the next hour is unique to your mind and body. While it’s not quite the same as sitting in the C5 Aircross’ snug Advanced Comfort seats, it still is an experience worth trying out.
Book a 60-min float session for $90 or 90-min float session for $110 here.

Great food can be found almost anywhere in Singapore, but we can all agree that nothing beats home-cooked food. To end the day, grab dinner and unwind in a stranger’s home with BonAppetour, the community marketplace that connects you with local hosts for home-cooked meals. Enjoy a varied menu that includes dishes like freshly made bak kut teh and authentic Peranakan fare. For those who want something different, there’s even a Game of Thrones themed dinner and cocktail-pairing Indian food feast. Don’t worry if you have dietary restrictions – just communicate them to your host upon signing up.
Go to BonAppetour’s website, book your desired session, make your payment and voilà — you’re all set!
