UNIQUE DATE IDEAS: THINGS TO DO IN SINGAPORE WITH YOUR OTHER HALF
Not sure what to do this weekend with your partner? We get it. Thinking of fun things to do in Singapore isn’t easy, especially if the both of you have gone down the usual movie-and-dinner route a little too often. If you need some inspiration, here are five unique date ideas to consider.
Shop for ceramics (or make your own) at Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle
Founded in 1965, Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle is a real gem that’s hidden in a far-flung corner of Jurong. For those with an eye for design and an appreciation for all things old and ancient, this place is worth the car ride (psst… Thow Kwang owns one of two surviving dragon kilns in Singapore!). You can spend hours getting lost in the shop’s labyrinth of rooms, looking through rows of shelves displaying all sorts of brilliantly coloured plates, cups, pots, vases, and a range of curios. Or, if you prefer something more hands-on, sign up for a workshop and spend the day learning the art of pottery with your date.

Play a game of mini golf at Holey Moley Golf Club
The newly opened two-storey Holey Moley is a restaurant, bar, and mini golf club – all rolled into one. There are 27 (highly ‘Instagrammable’) holes in total, some of which pay homage to iconic films and TV shows, including Game of Thrones, The Simpsons, and even Steven Spielberg’s terrifying Jaws. A round of nine holes can take anywhere between 25 to 40 minutes (prices start from $20 per person), and you get a maximum of six shots per hole. Once the both of you have conquered the fairways, make a beeline for the restaurant to bite into pizzas, burgers, hot dogs, and more.

Dine in the dark at Nox
Book a table for two at Nox and you’ll be in for a dining experience like no other. At this restaurant, you’ll have to give up your sense of sight temporarily while you dine in a pitch-black room. What you get is a three-course prix fixe dinner ($88++ per person) featuring mystery dishes, and one of the fun parts is playing guessing games with your other half and figuring out what exactly these creations are. You may have plenty of questions about how it works, but one thing to note while making reservations is that you must let the staff know if you or your partner have any dietary restrictions. Arrangements can be made, and the menu can be tailored just for you.

Party at Kult Kafe
Set in a colonial-style mansion that sits at the top of Emily Hill, Kult Kafe is recognised as the hangout of choice for creative types. The scene here is laid-back, even with all the events that happen every week or so, from quirky exhibitions showcasing works from the underground art world to food pop-ups run by well-known chefs. If you lovebirds know how to have a good time, swing by Kult Kafe for its music events like gigs featuring local DJs, or Silent Disco Asia, where you plug into wireless headphones and dance the night away.

Explore the Changi Point Coastal Walk
Measuring about two kilometres long, the Changi Point Coastal Walk is an easy trail that’s popular with outdoorsy couples looking for a romantic evening out. This tranquil seaside sanctuary is divided into six sections: Creek Walk, Beach Walk, Sailing Point Walk, Cliff Walk, Kelong Walk, and Sunset Walk. Take a stroll (completing the entire trail will take approximately 45 minutes) with your significant other and keep an eye out for winged creatures like the Pacific swallow and little terns. Tip: Make sure you stick around for sunset – the views you get from here are gorgeous.
