Guided by the art of ‘Kodawari’, the reimagined Eclipse Cross is an ode to the Mitsubishi’s uncompromising devotion to its craft, made for drivers willing to challenge conventional wisdom and ready to embrace change
SINGAPORE, 26 NOVEMBER 2021 – Cycle & Carriage Singapore introduces the reimagined Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross with a fresh, sleek distinctive coup SUV design, turbo-charged engine, and enhanced interior updates and safety features—a facelift from the first-generation model that made its debut at the Singapore Motor Show 2018.
“The new, visually striking Eclipse Cross is an appealing coup SUV that differentiates itself from the traditional SUV on the roads with its bold and distinctive sporty exterior, packed with purposeful and functional design. Its four-cylinder, 16-valve petrol engines with turbocharger and intercooler are also indicative of the driving pleasure of this 5-seater SUV—a sensation with alacrity and one that breaks out of the ordinary,” says Royston Soh, Divisional Manager – Head, Multi-Franchise Sales.
EXPLORE BEYOND WITH DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE
Carried over from the previous model, the Eclipse Cross is fitted with MMC’s 1.5-liter MIVEC direct injection turbocharged four-cylinder engine. A thoroughly modern design, the MIVEC engine is all-aluminium for light weight, and perfectly balances the seemingly distinct priorities of power and efficiency.
Using a compact turbocharger reduces fuel consumption but also minimizes turbo lag for driver-centric feel and performance, while the combination of direct fuel injection and turbocharging delivers greater efficiency at all roads and engine speeds. Paired with an eight-speed sports mode continuously variable transmission (CVT), the new Eclipse Cross optimizes driving dynamics while also achieving low fuel consumption.
REFRESHED DESIGN INSIDE OUT
At the front of the vehicle, a new bumper and the latest, most striking version of the Mitsubishi Dynamic Shield grille design present a sportier and more futuristic appearance. A newly styled bisected lighting design features thin, high-mounted LED daytime running lights (DRLs) at the leading edge of the hood with integrated turn signal lamps just below. Presenting a bold and broad welcome that previews the new face of future Mitsubishi Motors vehicles, stacked-and-recessed assemblies combine headlamp and fog lamp in a low-mounted position for optimal visibility.
The sophisticated design has been carried through to the rear of the vehicle, with a completely restyled rear hatch and window. The single-piece rear window and revised hatch design, combined with an increase in overall vehicle length by 140mm, add both styling and cargo space benefits, with the update providing one additional cubic foot of storage with the tonneau cover installed. The sharply sculpted hexagonal liftgate design is a nod to famous Mitsubishi vehicles of the past and integrates the vehicle’s iconic three-dimensional taillights to create a wide and stable presence. The extensive redesign of the Eclipse Cross results in a longer, sleeker and more luxurious compact SUV.
The rear seats feature a standard reclining function, which can be folded down easily in a 60:40 ratio to expand the cargo space, holding up to four 9-inch golf bags in the spacious 405 litre luggage compartment that measures 1000mm in width, 677mm in breadth, and 723mm in height.
Highlighting the upgraded interior is a new eight-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio (SDA) system featuring standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Available in the Style variant, the SDA offers drivers more ways to stay safely connected while on the road. A subtle update made with drivers’ ease of use in mind, the touchscreen has been moved two inches closer to the driver, with volume and tuning knobs replacing the centre console touchpad in the first-generation model.
RELIABLE SAFETY FEATURES
The Eclipse Cross comes fitted with seven SRS airbags on the front, side, curtain and driver’s knee, for protection in the event of a collision; Active Stability Control (ASC) that automatically adjusts engine output and applies breaking force at the appropriate wheels to help maintain control and prevent skidding in the event that wheels lose their grip on slippery surface or while turning; and the Multi Around Monitor to help drivers park safely and conveniently, with the help of cameras mounted on the front, rear and sides of the vehicles to display various views, including a bird’s eye view to revel blind spots.
For complete peace of mind, all Mitsubishi models come standard with an industry-leading 10-year engine warranty and 5-year unlimited mileage warranty.
